Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.
Godly grief bring repentance and leaves no regret, but worldly grief bring death.
Greetings
God, I thank you for your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your gift that you have entrusted me with. This gift I am using it for the good of the body of Christ. Teach me God how to better communicate your word, teach me exactly what to say, give me strength to persevere and to keep on. I have started this journey, hold my hand till the end. I pray that this word sits exactly where it is needed in the reader’s heart. I pray that it heals ad restores the relationship between you almighty God and the reader. I pray in the might name of Jesus.
Recap
Yesterday we dissected the first beatitude of “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
We understood that being poor in spirit is recognizing your spiritual bankruptcy, that there is nothing you can ever do to save your life from hell, even if you sacrifice it would still not be enough because of your fallen nature. No amount of wealth, righteousness could have saved you. It is only the blood of the precious lamb; Jesus Christ could have saved you.
Once you come to understand your limitations in saving yourself then yu are ready to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
Mourning
The second beatitude that we are looking at speaks about mourning, once you have recognized the gravity of your sins and how you have dishonoured God then mourning comes. You grieve at how much have sinned against God.
This reminded me of Isiah when he saw Lord seated upon a throne, high and lifted up, immediately he started confessing his sins to God saying he is a man of unclean lips, and he lives amongst man of unclean lips. Because once you see the glory you have no choice but to see your own unholiness. The lord’s glory and purity make your imperfections more visible.
That is what happens after you have encountered God (first beatitude) your imperfections are brought to light, and you grieve of your sinful nature.
Mourning that Jesus is talking about is the looking back at your life and seeing how gracious God has been to you even when you did not deserve it.
However, I do want to emphasize that mourning is NOT guilt nor it is shame mourning is actually godly sorrow.
Godly sorrow bring repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death (2 Corinthians 7:10).
Godly sorrow bring repentance and leaves no regret.
Worldly sorrow is when you are caught then that is when you start to feel bad, but that doesn’t lead to your salvation it leads to death.
The recording for this message. Please also we have a 3 am prayer every day for the next 30 days. We are asking the Holy Spirit to fall fresh on us and revive us so we can be quipped to use his gifts to edify the body of Christ.
Prayer
God I am deeply sorry for all my wicked ways. I recognize how much I have dishonoured your name. I have been living a life controlled by my flesh for what I do not want to do I do, and what I do want to do I don’t do. God, I pray for your deliverance from the power of sin. I repent today and I am moving away from these evil acts, and I am looking for your face. Thank you, God, for your convicting Holy Spirit. Amen.
